How limits work
Each API key has a sliding one-hour request window. The size of the window depends on your plan, and Enterprise keys get the highest allowance.
Every response carries X-RateLimit-Limit, X-RateLimit-Remaining and X-RateLimit-Reset headers, so a client can see how much of the window is left before it runs out.
Handling 429 responses
When a key goes over its limit, the API returns 429 with a RATE_LIMITED error code and a Retry-After header giving the number of seconds to wait.
Wait at least that long before retrying, and back off further if you are rate-limited again. Spreading scheduled jobs across the hour rather than starting them together avoids most throttling.
